US Criticized at Global Meeting to Prevent Climate Change

In a meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, the United Nations asked the U.S. to step up its effort in preventing climate change. According to the European Union, the United States and China account for half of the world's emissions. Whether widespread climate change happenes or not depends on what the US and China decide to do. President Obama was not present at the meeting at the time, and many feel this is evident of his lack of dedication to the cause.

Obama has other...

....important issues to deal with than fixing Global warming. One thing i disagree about President Obama is his half ass approach to things. Maybe it was better if he hadn't gone to this summit than not be present for the whole event.

Global warming is a big deal and must be given due attention.

it doesnt make sense for you to say that obama has better issues to take care of and then say global warming is a key issue that needs due attention. make up your mind!!

Dedicated and Busy

While it might first appear that Obama isn't as dedicated to combating climate change as he says he is, zooming in on his decision to push back his attendance to the Copenhagen summit from December 9th to the 18th shows that yes, he is, in fact, dedicated. UK MSN, for instance, reported that the government representatives present around the 9th will consist of mainly environment ministers, while the attendees on the 18th will be many other world leaders, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In fact, also according to UK MSN, "most of the bargaining on greenhouse gas reductions is expected to take place" around the time Obama is NOW scheduled to attend. That said, Obama is simply working smart. He's a busy guy, so he's attending the Copenhagen summit when he could make the biggest difference in climate change.
