You will only know what the media tell you, but if this is the truth, those men should not go to prison for merely protecting their lives. This is war and if some group of assholes premeditated your deaths several times, then I think what they did was necessary. There are very few people who kill for fun and then there are those who kill because they have to. In this situation I think it was probably the latter.
So many people in the army or police or any government agency think they can do anything... and they do! Then we hide behind their badges.
Don't even get me started on the typical recruit. If the government had any real selection criteria maybe we wouldn't have to deal with so many idiots trained to kill.
do you think the punishments will actually be that harsh. they DO work for the government?
i wish this article provided some feedback as to how the iraqi families felt when their husbands/brothers/fathers/sons were killed. it sucks that the one woman is blind and relies on her husband, but her husband was overseas... she must have been getting along without him while he was committing the acts he's being charged for. sounds like a big guilt trip. not to say that i understand the situation the men were in when they chose to kill the iraqis, but i feel like this article is not telling the whole story. i'm not really OK with killing people or the US prison system...
