Outspoken Education for the Hearing-Impaired

Child's Voice is a non-public school for hearing-impaired children that focuses on teaching kids how to talk and listen in a vocal world. Instead of pushing sign language, the school wants their students to be prepared in any situation. Child's voice is the only school of its kind approved by the state in Northern Illinois.

That's a great idea.
I have always thought that since many people end up in some capacity 'hearing impaired', that sign language should be taught in schools as a requirement. If children were taught to sign in addition to learning to read, we'd all be able to communicate regardless of our hearing levels.
