No Snow Days

Every winter I become disillusioned with Chicago because of the weather. It's such a warm and exciting city in the summer, but in the winter, everthing feels like a million miles away.
I grew up in the suburbs, so I guess I've always been used to the cold, but back in the suburbs everyone drives. Everything stops when there's a bad snow storm. But in the city, everyone walks and no one stops for anything.
For example, DePaul University, located in Lincoln Park and the South Loop NEVER HAS SNOW DAYS. No matter how bad the weather, you can always count on having class unless a professor decides to cancel, which they rarely do.
The last I heard, DePaul hasn't had a snow day since the 1980's!!!

Snow days only exist in the

Snow days only exist in the suburbs because homes are farther apart, there is less concentration of kids in one area, roads are cleared by the individual villages funded by taxpayer monies & not often cleared as they are in Chicago, and kids take busses that are district owned. In Chicago, you have schools kids can walk to, so there is no such thing as a bus that is frozen or unable to get to your house. Yes, suburbia is car dependant and will remain that way because some people like the openness of it.
