Looking for a roommate... in Japan??

Japan has historically snubbed the "roommate" concept.
Recently, there has been a rise in shared living in Japan. This in part is due to so many expatriates leaving due to company downsizing.

I must admit I was surprised to hear this. Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities to live in, yet most single adults prefer to live in small rooms than share an apartment with anyone.

I've had my share of bad roommate experiences. But I prefer dealing with roommates than having to change my lifestyle or worse, move in with the parents. What do you think?

They don't have roommates because the apartments are so small.

I have constantly heard that those living in Tokyo have much smaller apartments than people living in other cities around the world because there is such a high concentration of people there. They still have to pay high prices for considerably smaller apartments just for the luxury and convience of living in Tokyo. I'm sure people living there don't want a roommate because the apartments are so small to begin with. But if they need help paying the rent, getting a roommate is better than living on the street.

Or looking for a roomate in US

Apartment or roommate haunting is also very hard in NY!
I'm be leaving in ny for the past 2 years and a half, and I have to admit that its very hard to find a roommate or even an apartment.
If you are looking for an apartment in the city, if you don't take it right away, you loose it! if you are looking for a roommate, if you don't send a text saying that you want him/her, you will loose it!!!!
Its very hard to find a place to stay in NY!!! Crazy city....
