A little more roadwork, a little less confusion
Driving from Connecticut to New York and vice versa for the last few years, I have discovered new routes to reach each destination. However, all of them seem to have problems with the roads.
Staten Island has been consistently a place where the roads seem to be going through reconstruction at all times. The surrounding roads and highways (specifically just before the Triboro Bridge) have needed roadwork, or more specifically, repainting of the lines that exist there.
The white lines that usually serve as dividers between lanes are not clearly visible at all. This creates a great deal of confusion between drivers, especially those merging. The repainting of lines or painting black over the many lines that are intersecting is not an expensive procedure. For 4 years now, this has been the case. It is pure guesswork as to where you should be driving, as there is absolutely no defined lane.
This is very dangerous and it makes for a very confusing drive. Roads can always be improved, but this is something that could easily be fixed—so why hasn’t it been yet?
