Josh Ritter’s "So Runs the World Away"
Josh Ritter never ceases to disappoint me. This singer/songwriter from Idaho produced his seventh album on May 4th. This one proves to be a wonderful piece of music just as his last six have been.
Although he has been primarily successful in Ireland, Paste magazine honored him as being one of the top 100 best living songwriters.
Now living in Brooklyn, Josh Ritter went to Oberlin College planning on majoring in neuroscience following the steps of both of his parents who were neuroscientists. He then switched his major to the self-created “American History through Narrative Folk Music” which capitulates exactly what his music is.
Seeing him last night at Town Hall in Manhattan reminded me just how endearing this amazing talent is. The rest of the crowd thought so as well. There was the perfect mixture of acoustic performances and songs that the band went crazy for (his band, referred to as The Royal City Band is excellent as well).
