health care reform

Health care "reform" looks like it is going to happen. OK, it may not be ALL some of us wanted in reform. But it is something to build on. Before we trash an extraordinary effort on the part of the executive and legislative branches, let's give it a chance. It pains me to see some of those who made Obama's election possible, desert the ship for alleged lack of leadership. Isn't politics the art of the POSSIBLE and that compromise is an inherent part of the system. Have we forgotten that there are three branches of government; executive, legislaive and judicial. The President set the agenda and lobbied reform to the public and congress. Regardless of what the President does, CONGRESS has to pass legislation and after a brutal battle, it looks like they will. So please, don't lay it on Obamma's failure. Truman, Nixon, Carter, Johnson, Clinton, etc all tried for universal health care and were not able to move the ball. We are not there yet, but it's a giant step forward. Things move slowly sometimes, too slowly (civil rights legislation) but they do move and eventually we get it close to right. Not perfect perhaps, but what is.

finally! some movement on Healthcare reform

I have been disappointed with President Obama. But this is a huge step. I too don't know everything that the bill contains and have mixed feeling about what I have heard. I'm interested to see what the final outcome will be.

As a freelancer, my biggest concern is the possibility of higher costs for insurance. As a healthy, young person, I have a relatively inexpensive plan with a very high deductible. How will be bill affect me, if at all?

I agree that health care

I agree that health care reform is long overdue & I am pretty confident that some type of reform will take place. I do not understand how this works; who pays for it & how does it impact those who pay for insurance already? Why would those with insurance continue to pay high premiums when they could get it cheaper from the government? Does anyone have details on this as I'd like to know more.

I am sure that when the final bill is passed there will be many, many articles on the changes and how it will affect all of us. But first the House and Senate must reconcile their differences and vote on the final bill.
